A Delicious Challenge (Cat from Fiskateers)

Well I think it was a couple of weeks ago I stumbled across Cat's message on the Fiskateers board about her first challenge on her blog ( http://catiscrafty.blogspot.com/ ) and looking at what the inspiration was - a chocolate bar wrapper this is what I came out with for my layout - I know completely different to what youd think - youd think I would have been inspired by the colours on the wrapper - but nope it was more so the almighty goodness of chocolate and candy and the fact I was eating skittles at the time I came across the challenge! :p

June Bakers Dozen Challenge (fiskateers)

Well I took part in Groovy Deborah's Bakers Dozen Challenge for June on the Fiskateers Site.

I dont know why I left it to like 2 days before the day it was due lol...but yea Ive just been busy with Uni and stuff...

So this is what the challenge called for -

Items you will be using:

1.ink

2.transparency

3.Stickles Glitter Glue (or comparable)*

4.metal

5.journaling

6.shaped pp-no right angles!

7.elephant

8.crown

9.paint

10.handkerchief

11.Rain Dots (or any Fiskars sticker product)*

12.buttons

13.bleach (white gel)*

Though I didnt have the handkeychief - I used Lace as a sub for it...I didnt even think to take the napkin from the hot chocolate i had in these pics. But then it was just plain - had we gone to GPK lol for lunch - I would have gotten one from work to use on the page....but oh well....

Lots and lots of buttons - and its HERE!! My new toy!

Well its 1.20am on Saturday Morning I guess and its really windy and raining outside - I havent long gotten back from the airport I was meeting my best friend there between her joining flights from WGN to AKL to the UK - only well after two hours I couldnt find her anywhere at the international terminal... :( I was almighty sad as we havent seen each other for 13 months now - I can say that winter is here alright. I picked my niece up from school today - my mum and her brother were in the car waiting...and I just cant get over the number of little kids in this weather - in WINTER in tee shirts and shorts for the boys and the girls in their callotes... (sp???) - and BARE FEET!! I saw my niece with no shoes on coming out of the hall and when I met her in the class room I pointed to my shoes with a questioning look and she lifted her foot up to show me she had shoes on - they were slip on jandel thingies...so it was straight to the shoe store to get shoes for her and my nephew who had none on - its hard buying shoes for him he has semi clubbed feet and they are really chubby and big and wide and yea! But we got him some gumboots (wellies as his dad calls them since he's english - or MY BOOTS as my nephew says) and my niece some black school shoes. With stritch orders from me saying these are your shows for school for the next two terms - till october...and when ever it is raining - your roman sandles are for the other two terms when its sunny and hot. No wearing jandles or sneakers to school - this is your uniform...

I was going out to get me a laptop for uni - only to find out that the one i was looking at and the deal was actually from last week...argh..and the guy was trying to sell me a different - i ended up screaming I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS!!! And I stormed out of the store after that. Im waiting for one of my other best friends to tell me which one would be better to get - actaully what would be better was for him to come OUT with my shopping for it - hes my IT guy...my computer nerd...he knows this stuff...he can put it into simple terms for me this jargon stuff....like I said to him mother one night at dinner - if you asked me what a beef sirlion with red wine jus and garlic mash was id say to you a steak with red wine sauce and mashed potatos with garlic in them..lol

Anyway - when the weather was somewhat fine today I headed over to Claires and we went and got a refund on the fiskar cutter thingy she got me....bless her big heart she has...lol. They over charged her for em...We then went and had a perve at more scrapping stuff - I walked out with a punch thing for my thank you package for my friend Anne whos putting me up with a place to stay when im in CHC. And then I also got me a bag of small zip lock bags to put me buttons into for the button swap on the Fiskateers site...(and a nut and fruit bar for me to eat - since I hadnt eaten at all...)

So yes...who knows maybe tomorrow i will attemp some pages....before I go to work at 6pm for my 7pm start...

My first baby Card...

Well I did it I made my first baby card - seriously card making just isnt my thing to be honest. But hey its fun to get handmade cards - as they say you keep them more than you do store brought ones that are computer generic or what ever....but then you can buy some really nice handmade looking one in the shops - My dad and step mum tend to get me alot of those cards that have things stuck on them and stuff....or i think my step mum makes some for me...
Anyway heres the card.

Scrap that...

Ok i found refils for my album!! yay!! I got a 50 pack too - instead of the normal 10 pack I get...

Got me buttons for the button swap in Fiskateers - just need to get some bags to put them in since I gont have 14/15 on hand...*sigh*

Going to go attemp finishing this baby card for my manager - if only I could find an outfit to give...I know shes having a girl but I want it to be unisex so that she can use it again if she had another baby and its not a girl....kinda thing.

Why cant I find refills??

For some weeks now - probably months - I have been searching high and low for refill pages for my scrapbook albums. Im almighty fussy with what ones i use. Ive found some but they arent the ones I want! Ive been to both spotlight and the warehouse and they dont have the ones I want. Spotlight have the ones I want but I want them with white inserts not black. And if your wondering what Im wanting - its the 12x12 Grant Archival White Inserted pages. Since those are the albums I have. And I have like 10 layouts that arent in pages....

I have to get these pages done - for challenges....! And I have to get buttons and lots of them for a swap...why oh why did I take part in these when I have so much on my plate with sorting Uni out?? Haha...

Im getting a new toy again next week!

Well I thought Id say after my day at KMart not being able to get my Fiskars Cutting System Starter thingy my friend Claire (who was with me that day) rang up and put in a complaint about it to the head office, who told her that they were wrong in saying what they did, that the ads were for NZ - not Aussie that theirs is different....and she would track down one for her as their shipment is delayed due to stocktake- this was about 8am or so in the morning, then not long after that she said she got one!! But wont be able to get it till next week...so yay!! I have such a good friend in Claire...she's awesome I tell you!

Meanwhile I thought Id also do an update with Uni related stuff - Im now enrolled for my Diploma and I start on the 21st - I have till the 30th of June to pay my invoice I got which is only for one semester looking at it..thats only 1/4 of the fee - but ive applied for my student loan so I will just let them sort things out. I dont understand half of this kinda stuff sadly...its just to far beyond my understand I tell you! I had my application for the student village bumped to the top of the list as I was trying to sort all this stuff out with student loans and allowances etc etc....so have an offer of placement then and have till the 26th of June to pay my bond by - and may I say I have enough stress at work I dont need this kinda stuff...!! Trying to get a loan with the bank they said NO...I went home angry at anything...so angry I was crying and my windows in my car had fogged up and I got impatient on my street which thankfully is long and windy and yea I just took my fustration out in my driving but going fast - then screaming in my car when i got home at the cat to move....I calmed down when Claire came over with more fire wood...so I have this BIG HUGE pile of wood out the back...my dog was running around with a biscuit in her mouth...which she eventaully didnt eat i found it inside...

My darling mummy rang the bank after I vented my fustration about it and failing attemps with my other bank to get a loan (I have 4 bank accounts and a credit card - two accounts with one bank and the other two and the card with another bank)...she rang up and explained things and I had such a lovely lady on the phone helping me and told me about a letter that was sent to extend my credit card limit that i never got but she accept that extension for me and also told me to go for the over draft on my account...which I have to do tomorrow - though dont know when because my boss has rung me to ask me to come in early...

Sooo stressful I tell you! I move out of home in 2 weeks time into the student village - three weeks before I even start...gah! Lets just say now I know why I didnt go to Uni in the first place and only went to Tech...I only going to Uni because I want to do this diploma and my tech turnts me down...and it would have taken longer to do with them.

I wonder if I should attempt scrapbooking now...haha

New Toy to play with!

So my mum had a few to many flybuys points going to waste and she had some rewards to pick from lol...and it was a humming and harring on what to get and when she said she had enough to get a Brother Portable Labeller I said we had to get one - It wil work well with scrapbooking of course! And so yesturday after she picked her car up from getting a new radiator installed she went and picked up our Fly Buys Reward....and then today she got some batteries for it and I had my first play with it - I have my neice staying the night and printed a label with her name on it that she thought was the shizz...and put it on her drink bottle. I have to order the different tapes though for it and will make a note of getting the acid free one along with others for my scrapbooking!

Out and About with Friends

Well today started off really early for me - now Im no morning person Im really grumpy in the mornings, I hate them, especially in the cold. And I seem to go to bed late and wake up late when Im in the City as opposed to going to bed early and waking up early when Im staying in the country.

But today started at 7am for me, thats when I woke up and I was dressed and back into bed and reading my book by Dr Kathy Recies - the author to the inspiration of "Bones" then I went out and checked my emails and carried on some more with my scrapbook page of my curtisy nephew and before long my friend Claire was at the door ready for our big adventure back into the Closing down sale at Scrappers Delight in Mt Eden lol. But first we diverted to St Lukes Mall to meet up with Julia - this was Claire's first time meeting Julia, but I had already met her on monday since we work down the road from each other. We looked around in Farmers then went to KMart as they had a sale on and I wanted to get a Fikars Shap Cutter Starter Kit - only they had none - typical when things you really want are on special they either dont have them get a small supply in thinking they wont sale or they are sold out....and KMart are nasty people and dont have rainchecks - and now Im in pure rage with them - I will explain later why. Julia and Claire got some goodies....me I went with out since I couldnt find what I was after - not even refil pages - which Im struggling to find for my albums I have.

From St Lukes we went to Mt Eden and have a perve around and I got some paper for my Thank You RAKs Im sending off to Kris and Michelle and I got some more ribbon like what I got last week but in colours I didnt have :p ...and I got a little book about Cats for Anne - for when I go down to CHCH next month and stay with her...so lovely she is being to me and going way beyond expectation! We went to a cafe for coffee and munchies. I got a Hot Chocolate that personally tasted like utter shyat. And so not worth its $4 - even adding sugar to it made no difference. It was very watery tasting. And I dont drink coffee but I am a big consure when it comes to these kind of things. I mean helloooo I work in the Hospitality Industry and its where my passion and love lies - I am as bad with food - and yes I have to a comment on my $3.50 Mixed berry, custard and chocolate muffin - The tartness of the berries and the chocolate custard didnt go well with each other to be honest lol...personally I would have made it white chocolate with berries - maybe blueberries...and a tiny bit of plain custard...but hey I ate and drank what I had..Lol we should have just gone to GPK in Mt Eden..it would have been much cheaper with my staff discount...

Julia departed and Claire and I went to Manukau to Spotlight I cant remember why I was going to get cardstock probably but I havent a clue - or was it for blings?? But got some ribbon packs to go with my Thank You RAKs for Kris and Michelle and some ribbon to finish my layout Ive been working on, and I got some rinestones (blings) also. We then went over to KMart there - and no suprise they didnt have the cutter I wanted and they rang around and NO ONE had them - and I said to them well look this is faulse advertising - they didnt have the Lil Davis scrapping stuff they had on sale for 50% either - and again I said to the lady no Im sorry but your seriously breaching the consumers act - you cant advertise things that you dont have. Its illegal. She goes to me no its not at all, this is Australian owned (yea I know that) and we have the same specials as they do over there - I said thats a load of B.S.

So Im humming and harring as to if I take them to Fair Go or to the Consumers Garantee Commision.

Well now I have photos for my Bakrers Dozen Challenge page on the Fiskartee's site - i know I was going to take a photo of an elephant but like I said we went a different way!! But its ok I have something sorted for that and the crown, and the raindots I have now (thanks Michelle)...hmm handkerchief...lol..Im sure I can sort something out to get the rest.

New Page is in the "My Album" slideshow...

Why I scrapbook - and the early days.

Well this is inspired after reading Debby's blog last night (fellow fiskateer) of how she started scrapbooking...which is where this brings me to this whole entry....why I scrapbook and my early scrapbook. And I just went into my room and pulled out all my books I have from thr past 22 yrs I have that i guess in some way were my early day scrapbooks. And I do have a layout in one of my albums that has my story as to why I scrapbook in it...

So looking back through the years and books I found, my first one would be my book my mum started when i was born of all my birthday cards. It has my card from the hospital bassinet, and the news paper clippings with my birth notices, and I later added in a stamp from my first xmas, and the two toys I got given when I was born - they were only small teddies...and a couple of photos from the hospital. It started out with all the cards mum got from when I was born and then from my 1st birthday up to my 20th - and ive run out of room to stick them all in now. When i turnt 21 i got a special book form y 21st that I stuck my cards in and have yet to print photos off and put in, but its also got message from everyone that came in it. My 21st was a hard time considering I had a miscarraige the day after my 21st birthday.

Then as the years went on my next scrapbook was when Princess Diana was killed in 1997. I have two scrapbooks with picstures of her in them, and I never knew this lady, I remember the day it happened - it was back when i was being confirmed a catholic (which of course I know longer follow that path) - and I was so moved and touched and effected by this lady's death that I ended up making these albums. I remember taping her funeral it took two tapes to record it on and I watched it with my dad but eventually fell asleep on him...I eventaully got over it and moved on...and never finished fulling in the second scrapbook that I started with pics of her. 11 yrs later I think its horrible and sad that the media and stuff has to still drag her name through the mud - why cant they just let her rest in peace??

From here when i started intermediate we had these friendship books....and come high school I offiically made a proper one. Friendship books were a big no no at school and they had a banned on them, i had my confisacted a number of times through the years in high school. My mother would go mental at the school for it because of the fact I had photos in it some of them were old ones of my father as a young boy. But these books were meant to where you had pages with questions and basic statistics and details of your friends that they would full in. Mine grew into that and move..its became "My Book" everyone in class would look through it...

Also while I was in high school I had a big thing for Celebs with multiple celeb crushes...and addictions for programmes. I created a book with collages of these celebs and programme - from out of all my TVHits and SmashHits Maggies I use to always get...I eventually grew out of that once I left high school. I had pulled this book out a few months back to have a perve over my page of Heath Ledger back when he passed away. That day was a sad day....

After all of that I eventually got to my real scrapbooking. In 2004 my sister got married and my mum had seen stuff on scrapbooking and thought it would make a good present for my sister, she had gotten a book out of the library and we went to spotlight and got some paper and stickers and I waited like a year to get photos from my sister of her wedding and to actually see the photos from it too. And from there it just grew. Its amazing looking at how much my stlye has changed in the past 3 years. I remember when Rob started scrapbooking, he was inspired by me - and after seeing his work he did...I was blown away! And in turn this was when I changed my sytle. I started using different products, and I started adding more memorabilia on my pages, and I learnt new techniques, I have become more adventurous and scrap way out of the box now. I scrap everything the good the bad the pretty and the ugly...Because these things are a part of who I am. they were part of my life.

And if you ask my why I scrapbook - its so I can tell my story to those after me. So that if anything extreme happened like I was to lose my memory - there are these things there to help connect those parts of my brain back together. And so my family in the future arent left in the dark about who I am - Like I am presently left in the dark about who I am and where my late Poppa's family came from and who they are...

Rocky Road

And before I head off to bed I have completed another layout - my mojo I lost some months ago is coming back but only just....I mean I spent a whole weekend a month ago with late nights doing an album for my neighbours who were moving...but after that my mojo was turnt off on my own work. I seem to be able to do things when i have a time limit...heh

Photos are up in the slide show...

RAKs...the postie has been kind to me!

Ive gotten some goodies in the mail this week! Yay! I love getting RAKs...I have to put together some thank you things for these people.

After my little boo boo on my page the other day, and the paper having glue on it I really wanted that EK Success Tool....and my friend Kris in Hamilton kindly got me one and sent it to me. So thats a thank you pack Im going to put together for her. I will have to have a play with this soon. The next EK Success product I want to get is the staple bar remover (and more staple bars) to go with my Fastenator.

The other day I joint the Fiskarteers site - which is part of Fiskars. And its so great, Ive made a new friend already! And with all the RAKs and Challenges on there Ive decided to take up two of the challenges people have set - though one of them called for a Fiskars product and I have nothing from them - I know talk about being a Fiskars virgin! And my new friend Michelle kindly sent me some Raindots - which was called for in the challenge. And in return for a thank you im going to send something to her in return.
The last thing I need to get together as a thank you is for my friend Anne in Christchurch - a couple of weeks ago she sent me a cuttlebug embossing folder - which was really sweet of her - but the biggest thing she is doing is inviting me to stay with her when I come down to Christchurch for my little break away before I start Uni, and she is doing that and more....and I just have no idea what to do to thank her in return for it....the world needs more people like this. I cant wait to go down and see some of my other friends....and also my friend Mark who is taking me up in his helicopter - Its a great scrapbook page in the waiting that itself! Im going to have to go through my memory card on my cam and delete things I dont need. That or get my best friend Shane to get me a second one to have souly for travelling.
Well back to Shorty St and then see if I can attemp a page while Im waiting for the new series of Outragous Fortune to start!

Yipee! Holiday for me!

And totally off topic BUT I say I can go shopping in scrapping stores....

BUT....

I booked my tickets today for my winter holiday - Im going to Christchurch this year for a few days - on my rostered days off work (well what is normalling my rostered days off, but I shall put it in the request days off just to make sure im not put on...lol or it will be like my old job where they knew i was away but put me on still...)

I can wait to go down - but also a bit scared...I hope there is snow - Rob (my bestest friend) lives down there now and said there should be snow then...and I LOVE SNOW - its all his fault from the first time he took me down there and took me to see snow...though it was in a controlled room it was still fab!! And even better when I got to see real snow a couple of years later....

Hard Colours

Why is it so hard to find the right colours and patterns when it comes to scrapping?
I have a layout all drawn up and planned for photos I have printed...but that is the hard part struggle with when it comes to scrapping those photos...trying to get it all to blend in....

Im staring at a photo of my curtisy nephew - and i have duplicate copies of the photo I want to scrap, and Im going to do a duplicate of the layout - to send one to his mum - my best friend - so she has one in his album as well as in mine. And I know I want to put out the colours in the photos....but its so hard....and so is everything else!

This is one of the most annoying scrappers block ever - having the ideas but not being able to put it altogether....

*sigh*

Sexy Earmuffs

Well this afternoon I went to Harvey Norman and got some photos printed out - i also finally joined the VIP club...yay! So now I get cheaper prints down and have a couple of free prints I can get done when ever I like (they dont have an expiry date...) - so when I got home I started trimming my photos (while coooking my dinner at the same time before going to work). I put modge podge on my photos for on my canvas that Im half way through doing.

When I came home from work I sat down and got into working on this page of my nephew with yellow earmuffs on - he came over one day with them on and came into my room and woke me up with them on...and I thought that would make a awesome page...so later that day i had taken some photos and as if knowing what I had planned he was posing away for photos. And the fact he had no shirt on made the photos come even more to life once I got them onto the page.

I had seen in alot of maggies layouts with silhouette photos - and also photos with journalling written around them..so this layout is the first one i have done doing this on it. (photo is in my slide show of "my album") - and as for the title its called "Brad" and I downloaded it from
DaFont - I wanted something contruction looking to go with the whole ear muffs....and well this is a bit like broken glass or something...and as the patient scrapper that I am - printed it out with just a black outline and cut all the little peices out and glued them and inked the edges (not really I used my gel pen and outlined the edges) then cut around them again once i mounted them onto more cardstock...(incase people couldnt read the font properly...)

Ive got I think three pages panned to do...plus I still have to plan my June Bakers Dozen Challenge page from off Fiskateers...

Im loving this site so far - and Ive made a new friend on there :o)

Well off to bed now - I dont know how well I will sleep; my gums are really sore around my wisdom tooth that cut through some months ago. I hope its got nothing to do with my molars that dont have all their full roots and the cavities in them - and that its just my wisdom took cutting through more - coz there is no way in hell im having a root canal done!! Let alone having any of my teeth pulled out - Im going to the grave with these babies...lol.

YAY!!!!! AUT here I come...

Totally off topic to Scrapbooking - but something that will take up my life for two years from next month....

Ive been humming and harring about going back to tech for the past year - last year I was torn between moving down to Blenheim or going back into study - I finally made the call of moving - but then fell pregnant a year ago, so I had to put it off ended up not moving after my baby died. But its on my mind again these past couple of months. I had enrolled at the Tech I use to study at but was declined from there and was rather angry - so I thought bugger it Im going else where - googled what I wanted to do and found a Uni that was offering it - twice the length of study and double the amount of credits to what I would have had at my previous place of study.

ANyway cutting a long story short - sent my application form off on Monday and rang up today to ask if they had it and they told me they had sent out a letter with an offer....and I read it all on the internet how you get in - your offered a place and basically have to say yes or no to it...

Of course Im going to say yes!! So I hope it comes in the mail tomorrow....its all so exciting....Im going to go away the week before Uni starts on my rostered days off work - just to give myself a break and a breather to come back fresh and ready to throwing myself into Two Years of Full Time study to get my Diploma in Hospitality Management.

*does a little dance*

Of course when Im down south I can go look at the scrapping stores down there and lots of photos for layouts!

New Goodies to play with...

So me and my friend Claire went for a drive this morning to a store that has a closing down sale, as they are moving locations to the other side of the Harbour Bridge. Claire got HEAPS of paper - I only got 10 - i wanted to get more cardstock since the colours i have left in my collection are shocking - but hey they have their sale on till the end of the month - we are going back again next week on payday lol. I limited my spending and I spent $15.50. Thats pretty good. I got a Up2Scrap maggie too and Claire got me some ribbons...which are pretty...
In my addiction and love for the CraftCo NZ theme papers - I found one of Kapiti Coast and got two of them - so I can send one down to my best friend Jade in Kapiti....I dont know why I didnt take any photos last year when I was there seeing her - I know my camera wasnt dead as i charged the batteries up the night before at the Motel, and I remember having a disagreement about what to each for lunch with Rob...and finding a map of the area as to where we were going to meet up with Jade and getting gas and munchies....but I cant remember why I didnt take any photos...but thankfully Jade has some photos to send to me...

Both my friends Julia and Kris commented on my Controlled Spending today at the scrapbook store....I could have spent more I just was thinking about my bill I had to pay for my car today...and my other bills...

I think I should move all my scrapping stuff back out into my room again in the garage....and take one of my heaters out into there...

Alternate Canvas

So I started on my alternate canvas' today - ive had these planned for a while. Just havent got around to getting the things for it; IE: Modge Podge, Paints and Canvas'. I popped into the $2 yesturday and got the canvas - though they only have one size there - its ok for $2 each. I also picked up a packer of paper rope to attemp a Thank You card later for my GP. Today I got the paint and Modge Podge - I printed some photos off before just to see how it will look on there - but I think I will go and get some printed at Harvey Normans. Meanwhile Ive painted the canvas' and Ive attached the ribbon to it too....other than that I still need to get chip board letters for the titles and flowers for embellishments and the photos...

I also brought some Water Colour Pencils. Ive been hunting for some for a while - though i found some at Paper Plus, they were expensive....and the pack I realllllllllly wanted were expensive again - but would match my metallic gel pens I have. Lol who knows maybe some other day I will get them :P

I have a journal that I use and plan my pages in them - I really should start planning more again. Like the page of my nephew I want to do - I took photos of him wearing these yellow ear muffs and he posed for the photos...Ive pretty much done all of the pages I had planned in my journal, just got my Pirate Halloween page to do - where I still need paper for that. And I have a PMS one planned...

There is an Auckland theme paper by CraftCo that ive seen at Scrappin Downunder that i would like to get and print out some photos of Aucklands Skyline that I took on a random road trip one day to Devenport - go me and my random road trips. Lol. To go with my other layouts with paper from the same NZ line.

Tomorrow Im going out with my friend Claire - to Scrappers Delight in Mt Eden that is closing down...and are having a clearance sale on...though I dont plan on spending any money - you never know what temptation could bring.

Some of my friends have been commenting on a photo I took of myself last night....how much they like it and stuff...soooo maybe I will change my profile pic on here...I had my hair cut in the weekend and wasnt happy with it because I didnt have done want I wanted done...so I went back and complained about my service - they fixed my hair and did what I wanted....BUT it cost me....HOW RUDE! Other salons would have fixed it for free....

New Page; Boo-Boo's and over coming them...

So Ive been working on a page that I started a week or two ago at Crop night, and I brought a charm thingy off TM for it - and when I went to go finish it off today I discovered my darling little nephew had drawn on the page - and much to my saddness I only have one piece left of the paper I used for the journalling and I dont really want to cut that up just for the small piece I used to put my journalling on. I dont know what Im going to do to fix it yet.

I went out to Spotlight to get me an EK Success Rub On Tool Kit - to find they dont have them anymore and I cant find anyone who has them - I went to Warehouse Stationary. I sent an email off to my local scrapbooking store asking if they have any - its just a process of waiting for a reply now and hoping they have some that arent toooooo expensive!

So here I am pulling my hair out over it - trying to figure out how Im going to fix it, its the journalling box that is the bit that is fustrating me as that is where the big part of his "artistic writing" is...I can cover up the part on the background paper...but the journalling part...grrrr...dont know what to do...maybe I will have to find a different paper for it and completely rewrite alllll the journalling on both pages - since its a double page layout.

Darn kids!!

~~~~~
I manged to salvage my page. With sanding bits of it and dragging an ink pad over in places that had been ripped when i pulled bits off that had been glued on. Then on the page that was good - I did the same - sanded parts and inked them just so it would match up with the other page. I also made a bit cut out on another paper of a pentagram that turnt out cool - even though its mostly covered lol.
Pics of the page are in the "My Album" slideshow.
Next project - Alternate Canvases - and pirate halloween pages - just need to get methe Karen Foster Pirate theme paper I want for it....as ive already got the embellishments made from my cuttlekid pirate dies.
More Birthday Cards :P
Well while I was in the mood - I thought I'd whip together a birthday card for my Rob - my bestest friend in the whole wide world. Even though his birthday was 6 weeks ago - better late than never I say! Im pretty pleased with it - funny how most of my cards so far have been for males! Heres the card I made - the pic is one Rob has taken a few years back in Italy...and its one I love alot. I lowered the opacity of it and then printed it on Vellum then put a pale paper behind it. I also played with my fastenator for the first time. So now I guess Karen from Scrappin Downunder can stop saying Ive brought a new toy that Ive yet to play with let alone take out of the packet. I had so taken it out lol to look at it and put the staple bars in - I just kept it in there to keep it safe - I keep alot of things in their packets.
Off to bed now......
Birthday Cards
Well Im not vert talented with my cards - I wish I was. Ive looked at some of the cards my fellow Cuttlebugging friends on Trade Me have done and they are so cool. They have used their cuttlebugs to make them and stuff. I really want to make a thank you card for my GP - because he is so wonderful. Ive had the best care from him with my Depression and Anxiety in the past 3 yrs. I dont know where I would be if i hadnt changed to him. And I just wanted to thank him with a handmade card. Lol I know he will proudly display it - like the cross stitch I made him in Xmas 2005 of a mouse as a doctor saying #1 Doctor...you walk into the reception area and there on a shelf sits that framed pic. :P
Was my friend Baron's 17th birthday on the 4th of June and yesturday was his birthday party thingy...and I made him a card. Baron loves this game called Maple Story so I asked him for his character from off the game and I enlarged it and cut it out and put it on some cardstock then cut that out and stuck it on a card and finished it off with my white gel pen. Baron loved it...and my best friend Shane said we werent meant to be encouraging him with the game since he is so engroused in it! I said I wasnt to know! Followed by yours has a computer on it would you like me to take your computer away from you??
Speaking of that card - I had made Shane a card for his 19th birthday with a computer on it. This was before I got my cuttlebug - but even with it I still do alot of things by hand. I get called a patient scrapper lol. I also made Shane an alternate computer art for his birthday present - something outside my normal scrapbooking I guess. Somewhat happy with how it turnt out - of course ive yet to give Shane's card and present to him...I didnt put them in the car yesturday..oops..
The painting involved my cutting a shape out of wood I found in the garage - Was going for an "S" shape - three coats of each paint on it - then gluing all my parts on - which I found up in the loft left over from my dads junk - why oh why did I think of this NOW after we got a big skip in an threw his stuff all out last year!?? I found it hard gluing the parts on due to them not all being "flat" - with the souldered parts on the other side - which after one of my darling cats knocked the hold thing done breaking one part off and having to find another part to replace it with - I eventually drilled holes and thread wire through all the boards just to make it a bit more stable and so they didnt fall off over time if the glue didnt hold out. Im somewhat pleased with it. Shane's favourite colour is blue - and he's an IT Tech - so yea it all fits in...lol
I also made a card a few months back for my Nephew's 1st bday. Which I will add a photo of once my best friend Jade gets a photo of it...since I forgot to take a photo of it...but in the mean time here are the other two cards.
Yes Im not sure if i will get fully into making cards or what....its fun to give something hand made to people for birthdays and stuff. As they say people keep handmade cards more than store brought.
But I feel my cards are crusty...Ive got lots of papers and Ive got my cuttlebug and a few things for that and ribbons and other stuff in my collection but i just dont feel inspired. I look at photos in galleries of peopls cards and they are soooo fancy and fab and its like i want something cool like that...but gah..dont have anything like that...
My lastest toys
Well I think it was sometimes in may I finally brought a EK Success Fasinater - after seeing them on Trade Me and there different staple bars, and also seeing them in scrapbooking Maggies. I got the Mini one - out of the fact it was cheaper - only downfall is it doesnt reach to all angels like the large one does. But I dont care. I have to build me collection up of staple bars of course. And in saying that I having even played with it yet - opened it and put the bars into it but thats it so far...hehe.
Second big buy was my Provocraft Cuttlebug Die Cutter and Embosser. Ive been wanting one since Xmas 06, when they came in on special at a couple of stores - but they only got a few in thinking they wouldnt be popular - to have them sell out. Mothers Day they had them on special - and I think I was still humming and harring for a week to get one or not. Or to get a Sizzix...but I ended up getting the Cuttlebug. I was going to put one on laybuy - but because after ringing aroun and hunting one down in stock in Auckland - where it was would have been a bit of a drive for me to put payments on. So I ended up just buying it.
It came with a die and embossing folders - Celebration Stamps.
I had been in an MSN group for a week before MSN did a funny on me and won a PIF (pay if forward) and I the option to choose between a couple of things and picked some embossing folders (this was months before I got the thing!) and so I had these Jelly Birthday Images - and my first buy was the Cuttlekids Pairate dies, followed by my friend Anne who sent me a RAK (random act of kindness) to cheer me up in the mail the Stylized Flowers embossing folder :D
So my little collection of dies and folders is getting underway - but its not on my list of must gets and important things right now. Something I will treat myself too if i see a good bargin. Yes I am a bargin shopper - always going for the clearance and marked down things!
Coughing Fit
Well Im slowly getting the hang of this - I tried adding some slideshows from my photobucket but they didnt post how I wanted them to - so I had to sign up with something else and download that...to make the slides on here. Talk about fustrating! When your also dealing with a trojan horse thingy on your comp and are trying to fix it all up and your waiting from confirmation from someone on how to do it and they are on the other side of the world....*plays the patient game*
Mean while I have to go through my bebo or photobucket and save half my photos to my computer of my layouts because Ive deleted most of them to make room on the hard drive - so i can make more slides of my pages.
Well I just brought - well I won I havent paid for it yet an auction on Trade Me for a pentagram charm for on my layout im doing about Wicca. Which is half finished...
Ive got some scrappers block lately...kinda annoying, I guess I count myself lucky that I didnt get into next weeks crop night?? I was late at booking into it - and I wont be able to attend the following coz Im going to the Airport to see my best friend Jade off on her holiday to the UK - and so I have to wait a month and a half till the next one... :(
I have a note book that alot of my pages are planned out in - its working good - only downfall is i have no inspiration when it comes to colours and patterns of paper and cardstock. And especially scrapping on a budget and trying not to buy new things - I have to use what I have - unless Im fortuante enough to get sent things from people. Always love RAKs and things. I really should send some things back as a thank you to them - I promise I will get onto that once I sort things out on the personal front and finacial front.
Well must get going....Shortland Street is on..and im having sooo many coughing fits!
